THE TOP SPORTS LEGENDS OF ALL TIME

We understand that it is probably counter-intuitive to compare athletes from one sport with another, even if their comparative influences can be calculated. Consequently, this list is in no particular order.

Some people may oppose the choices of names we have decided to mention: since we all have our favorites, after all. But for the thorough control that they still hold over their sport, here are a few who we think are noteworthy:

ROGER FEDERER:

Roger federer Top Sports Legend

Fans and followers of Raphael Nadal or Djokovic may come up several excuses as to why Federer doesn't deserve the top spot. Keeping aside all the groupism and favoritism for a moment, it doesn't seem completely unreasonable to say that there is no other player in the history of tennis who has managed to retain the first position for 237 weeks consecutively.
With his victory at Wimbledon 2003, he became the first Swiss man to win a Grand Slam singles title. Having earned a total of 19 grand slam singles titles, Federer is still calling the shots.
In July 2017, the tennis legend won  a record-breaking 8th Wimbledon title and became the oldest men's champion in the open era at the age of 35.
As it has been mentioned before, legends are made of firmer stuff than the typical.
Hence, this old fighter continues to give the newbies a run for their money.

SACHIN TENDULKAR:

Popularly known as the "Master Blaster", Sachin Tendulkar is one of the greatest batsmen on the Indian Cricket team. Tendulkar bowed out of the cricket arena in November 2013.
However, the legend left behind an unforgettable legacy, spanning over 24 years, which will forever be engraved in our hearts.
He holds the record for scoring the highest number of runs in international matches, which stands at a total of about 34,357 runs. He also happens to top most of the record lists of Tets and ODIs.
Tendulkar is the only player to have scored a 100 international centuries and the first batsman to hit a double century in an ODI. He has been the first and the youngest ever sportsman to have received the Bharat Ratna Award.
He has been through quite a few rough patches in his career, with critics attacking him with doubts about his potential, time and again. Tendulkar, nevertheless, surpassed all such attacks, and walked into each game with his head held high.

Exclusive Interview with Former FC Pune City Technical Director Jose Hevia

We were honoured to have an exclusive interview with Coach Jose Carlos Hevia (former FC Pune City Technical Director and Head of Grassroots development). He is a UEFA Pro license holder with over 26 years of coaching experience in Spain and India. Coach Hevia was incharge of FC Pune City’s Grassroots development from December 2014 to July 2016 and was given an enormous task of setting up FC Pune City academy from scratch.

First of all we were curious to know about his experience in  India. With a sense of contentment Coach Hevia replied, “The experience was unbelievable even with all the difficulties of being a new project and the time that I needed to fit to a new country and a new culture completely different to the culture and habits of my country. The first months were to start with the essential steps that a project of a professional football club needs, following the rules of the European football that I wanted to entrench in Pune. Once the project was ongoing, everything was running till the end of my stage in Pune obviously with the own difficulties of the activity however with my satisfaction of doing at least the main aims.”
For the right training method to be implemented at grassroots level Coach Hevia conducted train-the-trainer program which was attended by coaches, physical education teachers and parents. “I´m an ambitious person so I always want to reach the highest levels of excellence in all the projects that I´m in charge for that reason I guess that we could go further than we were but bearing in mind the overall conditions it was a great starting,” Coach Hevia said.
Most of the ISL clubs are affiliated with some of the best European clubs. With this new European style of coaching given to kids we were curious to know the timeframe needed for ISL academies to be on par with European academies.  Coach Hevia said,“The most important thing in every project with these characteristics is the time that everyone needs to acquire the new dynamic, style, actions, processes, and concepts of working therefore it´s very important to avoid working with rush and
giving the necessary time that every stage needs to grow. The brain is very clever and tend to use always the concepts entrenched so there will be always difficulties to install the new information. So thanks to my background either as football coach and psychologist, it´s necessary a minimum of two years for starting to give a good shape to the project.”

The Sports Company played a crucial role in bringing Coach Hevia to India. When asked about his association with Mr. Varun Chopra (Founder and Managing Director of The Sports Company) & Raaghav Sood (Co-Founder and Technical Head of The Sports Company) he said," Excellent, remarkable, awesome … I would be able to continue without stopping with the list of positive adjectives that I have for talking about Varun and his staff. Thanks to him, I was able to take the most complicate step forward  in the career as football coach that is the change from the amateur world to the professional world and if I had the chance to do, it was for the good work and management of Varun Chopra and The Sports Company. I can afford to say without a doubt that Varun is more than a partner, he is my family in India.”

Coach Hevia agrees with the AIFF 2017 roadmap of Indian football in which ISL will become the top tier of Indian football eligible for Asian competitions. He added that time is very important for improving in all directions and competition mus have enough amount of time in order to develop.

Upon asking him if he would like to return to India in the near future, He was confident about his immediate return, “Absolutely, in fact Varun and his staff are working very hard to make a definitive agreement with a football club that can be good for all the stakeholders. I would like to carry on with the work I´ve started in Pune in order to grow all together with the idea of going up till the highest standard of the football activity and I would like to do it as head coach of the main team of the institution who can bet for my project, idea and style of working.”

SCHOOL OF SOCCER SUMMER CAMP

-Jayanti Jha

The Sports Company in association with The School of Soccer  has organised summer camps for children between the ages of 4-18 through three weeks of the summer. The camps started on the 25th of May and will go on till the 14th of June. We award our players daily with player of the day trophies. We also have a player of the week and a player of the summer camp.

The Soccer Schools provide the children with the opportunity to enhance their skills over the summer by making them train harder than ever in a fun filled manner. This helps the children in having an edge over their peers who choose instead to 'chill' over the summer break. Our students are usually better prepared for the football season that typically begins in late July or August. Besides it's not all work and no play. We give off for 15 days at the end of the summer, which is more than enough for relaxing or taking a holiday. Our year round School of Soccer coaching resumes in July.

The main motive here at The School of Soccer is to not only provide quality football training but to also mould our players into better rounded individuals and to teach them important values like integrity, honour and teamwork. The best thing about our coaching is the coach to player ratio and that all our coaches are licensed. We provide one coach per 3-5 players at most. This is unlike most other football training institutions. Here, each child is assessed individually on a one to one basis.

Our aim is to create a close knit community, or better still a family. We like to think of ourselves as idealists in this cut throat world. Football is much much more than just a sport for us, it is a manner of life and this is what we want to instil in our players so we can take them beyond just the field and the game and help them realise the true joy of the most beautiful sport on the planet.
